AMD SORTING XRT Intelligent Ore Sorting: From "Grind First, Sort Later" to "Sort First, Grind Later"

Global mining is at a turning point. Easily processed resources are depleting, mining and processing thresholds are rising, and high-grade ore is becoming scarcer. Mines are increasingly turning to low-grade, complex, and difficult-to-process ore. At the same time, tighter environmental regulations and rising labor costs are putting continuous pressure on the traditional "crush–grind–separate" route.

The problem often starts at the beginning: whole ore goes straight into the mill. A large amount of waste rock takes up capacity, consumes energy, dilutes grade, and drives up reagent, water, power, and labor costs. Removing waste rock before milling—pre-concentration—has therefore become a key lever for cost reduction and efficiency improvement. It reduces unnecessary grinding, lowers energy and reagent consumption, and allows milling and separation capacity to focus on valuable ore. It also makes it possible to economically process low-grade resources that were previously difficult to justify.

For many mines, this is the first switch from "the more we process, the more we lose" to "fine-tuned profitability."

The Technical Answer: XRT Transparency, No Water, No Media

AMD SORTING has independently developed the XRT intelligent ore sorter, covering four core systems—feeding, distribution, identification, and execution—along with auxiliary systems for air supply, dust removal, power distribution, and control.

The principle is based on X-ray transmission imaging. Different minerals absorb and attenuate X-rays differently, generating identification signals. AI algorithms make millisecond-level decisions, and high-pressure air jets precisely separate ore from waste rock. The entire process requires no water and no heavy media, enabling dry pre-concentration. This reduces sorting costs while improving both efficiency and precision.

For different mineral characteristics, the equipment can build intelligent models and use big-data analysis to digitally identify and classify ore and gangue. The intelligent execution system then discharges the gangue.

The Value: Remove Waste Early, Profit with Precision

As mineral resources become increasingly depleted and green mining and intelligent upgrading become industry-wide trends, XRT intelligent pre-concentration is moving from an "optional" front-end step to a "must-have" for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

AMD SORTING XRT intelligent ore sorter now covers pre-concentration applications for more than 20 minerals, including gold, silver, lead, zinc, copper, tungsten, antimony, tin, lithium, iron, manganese, sulfur, phosphate, fluorite, talc, kaolinite, barite, limestone, and magnesite.

For each mine, AMD SORTING follows a "one mine, one strategy" approach and offers custom development for new mineral types. We deliver single units, multi-unit systems, and mobile complete equipment, forming customized solutions from pre-concentration to full-process optimization.

Global mining competition is shifting from "who has the ore" to "who knows how to sort it."AMD SORTING XRT intelligent ore sorting solution uses dry pre-concentration with no water and no media to help mines precisely remove waste before milling—returning milling and separation capacity to value itself. From "grind first, sort later" to "sort first, grind later," from "the more we process, the more we lose" to "remove waste early."
